Jesus Christ is the only way to receive salvation. The Bible is clear that there is no other way to be saved and forgiven of your sins except receiving Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior. Works alone, baptism, or church membership cannot save you. It's only by the Blood of Jesus!
First, in Gods plan of Salvation, you must realize that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior. Your sins separate you from a loving God. Rom. 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,”
Second, you cannot earn your salvation by doing good works or performing various religious activities. Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us."
Third, you must realize that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your sins by dying on the cross in your place. He is the only begotten Son of God and has never sinned. He bore our sins on the cross and paid the penalty for sin with His precious life at Calvary. Rom. 5:8 "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Fourth, you must believe that Jesus died for you and ask Him to save you from your sins. Acts 2:21 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Receiving Christ involves a change of your heart, a turning from your old path to a new path that God has for you.
Accepting Jesus involves:
1. SINNER - Confess you are a sinner and admit you need His forgivness.
2. REPENT - Be willing to turn away from your sins.
3. TRUST JESUS - Believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ died for "you" on the Cross and that He rose from the grave on the third day to offer you eternal life.
4. RECEIVE HIM - Pray and invite Jesus Christ to come into your life, and to control your life through the Holy Spirit.
The exact wording is not so important, as long as you truly have a desire from your heart to surrender yourself to Jesus Christ. This desire comes from the Holy Spirit. You can pray something like this.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave on the third day to give me eternal life with you. I confess my sins before you now and ask you to forgive me. I accept you as my LORD and Savior. You are now LORD of my life and I thank you for coming into my heart. Holy Spirit I ask you to empower me to go forth and tell the world that Jesus is Lord and allow your signs and wonders to follow me all the days of my life. Amen.
